Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond... VOLUNTEERS Volunteers are the HEART of Childbirth Kingston. The number of hours people volunteer varies widely from person to person and even from year to year for individuals whose circumstances change (like having another baby!) We are very grateful for whatever time you can commit to Childbirth Kingston. We have many jobs to do and want to help you find the ones that match your interests, skills, and availability. As an unfunded, non-profit organization, volunteers are the heart of Childbirth Kingston Childbirth Kingston averages 2,000 volunteer hours per year to do all of the tasks necessary to keep the organization running Many of the tasks can be completed on a flexible schedule We gladly offer references, either verbal or written, when a volunteer applies for a job or position elsewhere Small but Important (about 5 hours per year) Work one shift at one of our Events Work one bingo shift Proof read the newsletter four times per year Prepare for mailing newsletters four times per year Distribute posters for fundraising events Deliver cotton products to our outlets as needed When More is Better (about 20 hours per year) A combination of the above activities Cotton production - serging, packaging, etc. Assist newsletter editor with computer input Solicit prizes for our raffle from local businesses Assist with marketing. Send announcements to media on a regular basis Resume Building Opportunities (about 40-60 hours per year) Work on an event committee or a board committee Be an office assistant once or twice a month Be co-editor of the newsletter Be a member of the Board of Directors Be a consultant to us in your area of specialty There is a lot more to do!
