Every birth, body and baby is different so there is no guarantee of what you will experience, but it is my passion to give every person EVERY opportunity to have the birth of their choice. Whether your goal is unmedicated, total medication, or scheduled C-section, whether you are chestfeeding, or bottle feeding, whether you have support in your life or not, EVERY person should have a Doula!

Every birthing person deserves a doula in pregnancy, during their prenatal time, during labour and birthing of their baby, and in the postpartum, as well. I love serving clients of all ages and life stages, and I am particularly passionate about serving military families (especially when birthing during a deployment or with no family nearby).

Birth Doula
Rachel Nafziger
I have been passionate about all things related to human sexuality and reproduction for as long as I can remember. I began attending births as a support to friends in 2002, not long after the birth of my first child. My deep respect and reverence for birth and for people's diverse journeys to parenthood have led me to provide gentle, non-judgemental support to families in various situations planning all kinds of births. My goal is to assist you in having the birth you want to have in the way you want to have it. I find it a privilege and an honour to work with birth-givers and their families as they prepare for and welcome new life into the world.

Entering into parenthood reminds me of sailing into a storm. There are beautiful picturesque moments that are truly breathtaking and then there are moments that are chaotic and tumultuous. As a Postpartum Doula, I like to think I'm a quirky umbrella, here to help you weather the storm and create more beautiful picturesque moments. My favourite part of this work is watching new parents find their confidence in the journey of parenthood.

Doula work is a very special and a highly personal experience on both sides of the relationship.
I have come in and out of the doula world throughout my adult life, both in response to the births of my
own four children, and the arrival of (11!) grandchildren and I can tell you this: you will remember the day that you give birth (and the days that follow!) for the rest of your life! As a doula, it is a privilege and an honour to share in that journey and to help you find your best path.

I am passionate about fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum mental and physical health, and as a certifying doula and future psychotherapist, I am on my way to making my dream of helping people on their incredible journey a reality! My goal is to make you and your birth partner feel empowered through whatever you are facing so you feel strong, prepared, educated, and comfortable making the final decisions about the health of yourself and baby. When I am not with a client, I am working with amazing professionals in the birth world to research how online CBT can help with perinatal mental health conditions such as postpartum OCD, depression, and anxiety.

From the time I was pregnant with my first child in 2011, I have felt drawn to birth and the precious (and often times HARD!) post-partum weeks and months that follow. Having a doula by your side as a source of continuous support for the birthing person, birth partner, and sweet new babe can be very beneficial to the experience in so many ways. My passion for birth and family, along with my empathetic heart and desire to help improve these experiences has drawn me to this work. As such, I look forward to being an ear to listen, a source of information, a calming voice and presence, a gentle cheerleader, and also hope to help ease some of the bumps and bruises along the way.

Certifying Birth Doula

Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated by pregnancy and birth (I was the kid watching “A Baby Story” on TLC!). This fascination bloomed into a passion after my daughter was born in 2018 and then in 2020, I officially “took the plunge” into the world of birth work. I wholeheartedly believe that no matter where or how a person gives birth, their experience is so important, one that will leave an imprint that lasts a lifetime. As a birth doula and educator, my practice is focused on providing compassionate and evidence-based support to birthing people in the community. I aim to be a calm and reassuring presence, a facilitator of conversations with healthcare providers for informed decision-making, and an advocate when needed.
When I am not “doula-ing”, you can find me running after my little one, in the garden, or cross-stitching (most likely with a cat on my lap).
